When A Heart Cries Out: Jesus, Use Me

The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way. Psalm 37:23 KJV

Your steps are directed by God. Where is He taking you? I’d like to share with you what God has been doing with me. Would you stay awhile? It is my prayer that this will encourage you to seek God, to trust Him to take you places where your light can shine for Him.

A Season of Rest

There is no retirement in the kingdom of God. Seasons of rest, yes, but no retirement. We serve God until He calls us home to be with Him so therefore we should be busy doing the Father’s business as along as we can.

We have had our season of rest. It wasn’t terribly long as even during that season, we still opened our home to host the weekly Life Group for about two years. At the same time, my husband and I coordinated the Food Hamper Ministry at the church we were attending. Though we were busy, it was still a season of rest which we enjoyed for the time being.

I sensed in my spirit in December 2015 that it was time to work again. Through fasting and prayer, God directed me to be the leader of Women’s Ministry and together with a team of four wonderful sisters in the Lord, we headed the activities of our local WM group for a year.

God doesn’t always tell us why things will be done a certain way but as we trust His leading and follow His direction, we will see where He takes us next.

The Territory is Enlarged

It was a year later in December 2016 that God gave me this verse:

Isaiah 42:6-9 I the Lord have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles;

7 To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison-house.

8 I am the Lord: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.

9 Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them. KJV

I didn’t understand fully what it meant for me at the time but today I came across my note in my Bible and as I look at this verse now, I see what He was doing. It was the beginning of a new ministry He was giving me. A ministry of reaching women around the world with the Word of God.

The Hard Words

There is another verse that He has given me and it is much harder to carry out.

Matthew 10:16+20 Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. For it is not ye that speaks, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.

Two years ago, the Father directed me to research false teachers and false doctrine. In the past three months, He has directed me to write blogs on this topic. I am not really sure how they are received as few readers leave comments, however, those I have received are in support of standing for truth. I wonder about all the other women who have read them, what do they think?

I do not seek approval from others as I know Who has sent me, Who has called me to this ministry. He has anointed me to speak so the results are His. He will help me, He will guide me. He will place the words from His heart to paper through me.

Regardless of the message He gives me to write, I must be obedient. It isn’t about me anyway. It is all about Him. It is about giving glory to the Father through His Son, Jesus. It is about speaking the Truth as found in the Word of God. It is about not sugar-coating truth to make it more palatable for itching ears. It is about obedience.

Sound the Alarm

You know, even as I am writing this, the Lord is reminding me of these passages that He gave me and I wonder at the meaning of it all. Oh, I know what the verses mean, it is not that, it is the significance of all of this. Why me? I am not a preacher, I am not someone great, someone well known. I am Cindy. A woman of God that is doing my best to serve Him where I am planted. And yet, He has chosen me with this message. Wow! I am humbled.

Joel 2:1 Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the Lord cometh, for it is nigh at hand;

Called and Chosen

Have you ever wondered if God knows you are here? Wondered if He is ever going to use you? We sing the chorus “Jesus, use me, and dear Lord, don’t refuse me, for surely there’s a work that I can do. Even though it’s humble, Lord help my will to crumble, though the cost be great, I’ll work for You.”

It is more than just words to God. He hears them and is ready to answer the cry of your heart. And when He does, be ready to move forward. The ‘when’ could be today, tomorrow, next year. While you are waiting for the direction to move, grow in your faith. Be strong in the Lord and His Word. Hide it in your heart. Let your light shine, let the love of Jesus shine through you. Wait and prepare to be ready when He gives the marching orders.

He gave me these next verses a few months ago. In fact, all four of these passages have been within weeks of each other. God is moving across this land. He is touching hearts and changing lives and He is using women, just like me, to be His hands and voice with His message. He wants to use you too, just be willing, waiting, and ready.

Isaiah 41:9-10, 13  Thou whom I have taken from the ends of the earth, and called thee from the chief men thereof, and said unto thee, Thou art my servant; I have chosen thee, and not cast thee away.

Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.

13 For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.

In my quiet time with God this morning, my spirit met with His Spirit and penned this prayer. This is for you.

Oh, God! Move, O Lord, move in me, move in us! Use me, O Lord, as an instrument to encourage others to step out in faith, to accept the call You have for them. May they place You as their center, their focus, their desire to do Your will. May they be bold, give them Holy Spirit boldness to do the task, the ministry, the job that You are birthing in their spirits.

Thank You, thank You, thank You, Lord! Amazing God! Wonderful God! Sovereign God! There is none like You, O Lord. No one compares to You for You alone are holy. You alone are worthy. You alone are the One True God! Hallelujah and amen! Praises to Your name! Let Your will be done!

It isn’t about me and it isn’t about you. It’s all about Him. Glory to God in the highest!

Psalm 37:23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.

As always, sweet sisters, I invite your comments. Is God birthing a dream within you? Can you sense it? Or, have you been asking Him to use you but you are not seeing His response yet? If so, don’t give up. Keep on preparing yourself through studying the Word, knowing how you ought to respond when others question you. Grow in faith and be strong and of good courage!

Please leave a comment, below. I would love to hear what God is doing or what you are doing as you are waiting for your marching orders!

  1. I came across this today, just what I needed. I am in a season of growing with My Jesus, being patient while waiting for Him to unfold His plans for my marriage, my future and my calling to motivate and encourage women.

    1. Glad you stopped by today, Joy. Keep seeking Him, He’ll give you the direction and answers you need. Blessings to you.

  2. This is exactly what I needed to read. I was just worrying last night that I’m not doing enough and I am unsure of what God wants me to do but I want to be used by Him so desperately. Then I open my Pinterest app this morning and this blog is the first thing I see. Thank you for sharing this and for your example of faithfulness to the Lord’s call.

    1. Hi Rachel, I am so glad God directed you to this post to encourage you. I love how God does that!
If you are not aware, “discouragement” is a tool of the enemy and he will use it to get you down. Be on guard against it and do not give in to him as he only wants to see you defeated. I also have a FB post (not a blog post), quite long, that the Lord gave me a few mornings ago concerning the battle against discouragement. You can find it on my blog FB page.
There is another post you might be interested in called My Audience of One and His Friends. This will also encourage you when you wonder why you’re doing this thing called blogging. https://gogathergrow.com/2017/05/16/audience-of-one/.
Thanks for stopping by Rachel. Have a blessed day!

  3. You’re so right there is not a season of retirement! Use me Lord, may I discern your voice in whatever season I’m in!

  4. Oh, Cindy, that prayer spoke right to my heart…it was clearly born of a communion between you and the Holy Spirit! Blessings <3

    1. I’m glad you sense His voice in that prayer, Liz. I love my time with Him where He guides me in my journaling and my post writing. Blessings to you as well, Liz! <3

  5. I enjoyed about reading how God spoke to you and lead you through several seasons! I, too, have felt the Lord leading our family into a new season, and I am so excited to see what He has in store!
If we will ask Him to use us, and make ourselves ready with the Word, He will move in ways beyond what we could imagine!

    1. Absolutely, Naomi! We only see through a mirror darkly…but soon we will see things as Jesus does. Praise God!
Thank you for stopping by and for your kind words!

  6. Lovely post, thank you for your beautiful prayer. I love that you are obeying God by studying and obeying His word, to sift through the false teaching… that is the only way!

I just came out of a period of waiting that had to do with my health, it was hard deciding to surrender it all and trust in the Lord and to hold on to faith and surely He took care of my situation His way, in His timing.

What a mighty, loving and sovereign God we serve!

    1. Thank you for stopping by Nisha! Yes, it is hard to wait and harder yet to trust fully in God but the more often we do it, the easier it becomes!
Praise God your season of waiting is over! You can now give your testimony of His greatness in your situation.
      Blessings to you! <3

    1. Hi there! Yes, there is an aching and a wondering in the waiting. And sometimes we may even forget for awhile but then when something happens, we can look back to see the hand of God orchestrating everything in place like a wonderful musical piece.
Thank you for stopping by today! May you be blessed with the richness of the Word of God today!
