The Blogger Recognition Award

I am so touched and humbled to be nominated for The Bloggers Recognition Award by Timberley Gray of Living Our Priorities. This nomination not only comes from Timberley but it also comes from my heavenly Father and is confirmation that I am doing what He wants me to do. Thank you, Father!

The Blogger Recognition Award is given to bloggers by bloggers who appreciate the hard work, dedication and vast amount of hours we all put into each and every post, as well as keeping the website current and updated.

The Blogger Recognition Award

My Territory is Enlarged

This past January, I prayed a soft prayer that God heard. I asked the Lord to enlarge my territory and soon after that, the idea of a blog was born. Launch date for Go – Gather – Grow was March 1, 2017, and since then this ministry has been reaching women around the world with the Word of God. Talk about an answer to prayer! There have been many times when I have been discouraged but God always gives me encouragement at the right time. Sometimes it is in prayer or through His Word, other times it is in a timely blog post I read on Facebook, but always, He meets me where I am at and reminds me that this is His ministry to which I have been called.

Advice to New Bloggers

Though I have been blogging for eight months now, there is still much to learn. Things like SEO (search engine optimization), Google Analytics, social media promotion (how and when), developing your blog’s brand and so much more. All of this takes time so my advice to new bloggers is, and in no particular order,

Do your research then develop your strategy.

Work out a plan to achieve your goals. There are many posts on Pinterest with great information to help you get started. As you read through them, one or two bloggers, maybe more, will resonate with you and you will begin to follow them, either their pinned posts, or via social media. Learn what you can from them concerning blog strategies and goal setting. Don’t rush through this but keep in mind, once you have launched your blog, in the next several months, your goals may change as you find your place in the blogosphere. And that’s okay.

Invest in your blog by taking courses.

One of the best courses out there, whether you are monetizing your blog or not, is the Elite Blog Academy (EBA). I heard about this course a week or so before I launched but I decided to wait til the following year to see if I was serious about blogging. You see, they only have the doors open for a short time once or twice a year. So, if you’re thinking of it, I would suggest you get on the waiting list for the next time registration is open. When I finally decided to get on the waiting list, it was early July and to my surprise, within a week of being on the list, EBA’s registration doors opened for 36 hours! Did I waste time thinking about it? NO! I jumped in right away as I knew this is what I wanted. To learn from the best.

There are other bloggers who have their specialties who you should connect with for courses. For example,

  • Rosemarie Groner of the Busy Budgeter who teaches how to Date Your List (email)
  • Kate Ahl of Simple Pin Media (Pinterest)
  • Kelly from Sticky Blogging (email)
  • Sarah of Early Bird Mom who writes Inbox Invitation (email)
  • and so many more but these are enough to get your started in the right direction
  • and for those whom I didn’t name, well this list would become overwhelming as there are so many great bloggers to learn from!

And speaking of “overwhelm,” don’t let the list of courses that are available overwhelm you. Decide what to do according to your strategy and goals and once accomplished, move on to the next course. Remember, this is an investment in your blog as you write for your audience, giving them what they need to encourage themselves in their faith and in their lives.

Encourage yourself.

It is vital that you encourage yourself daily through reading His Word. Place God first in your blog and let Him direct your ministry. When Holy Spirit speaks, listen. Everything will fall into place. While I had believed that God would teach me (rather than me learn from others), what He did was lead me to other bloggers to learn from. So, through research, courses, and strategies, I learned what I can, applied what worked for me and you know what? I’m still learning, still applying and still making changes as I go. It’s all about refining the mechanics of blogging to a great fit for you and you’ll find when you reach that point, you will refine again. It is never ending. Why? Because the internet changes so swiftly and we need to keep up with it.

Pray, read the Word, stay in tune with God and refine your ministry as He directs.

And the Nominees are….

Since my blog has launched, I have met many bloggers online whom I have enjoyed reading their posts, enjoyed praying with and enjoyed conversation with as we support one another.  Virtual fellowship works wonderful and requires being intentional to make it succeed. I love how I can reach out to any one of these women over the airwaves.
