When A Heart Cries Out: Jesus, Use Me

The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way. Psalm 37:23 KJV

Your steps are directed by God. Where is He taking you? I’d like to share with you what God has been doing with me. Would you stay awhile? It is my prayer that this will encourage you to seek God, to trust Him to take you places where your light can shine for Him.

False Teachers | Enemy in the Camp

Beware of the Enemy in the Camp

There were false prophets also among the people…

Jesus told us that there would be false prophets who would mingle in the body of Christ, (Matthew 7:15).

But first, let me tell you a story. Recently my friend and I went for a walk along the Dyke trail skirting the Great Blue Heron Reserve. This was her first visit there so I was showing her the colony nests high in the trees. This is the season for the blue herons to nest. We stopped to count the nests and kept finding more as we moved a few steps this way and that. So many new chicks that we knew were in the nests as they are too young to peek over the nest edge. What a beautiful day for a walk.

We witnessed a death that day. We heard a mother scream like no scream we had heard before. It’s still in my mind. We scanned the direction the screams came from and saw the culprit fly away. Initially, I thought he had threatened the nests but as we looked closer, we saw the chick in his talons. The bald eagle flew to his nest, just a few trees away, and devoured his prey. Our hearts broke at the cycle of life.

Honour God in Adversity

3 Behaviours that Honour God in Adversity

When adversity strikes, and it surely will, how will you honour God in it? James 1:2 tells us to be joyful.

It happened again. We received an email response on our way home that we had to deal with. How do we respond?

That’s a good question. How should Christians respond when in adversity?

5 things to do in a crisis

5 Things to do in a Crisis

Have you ever had the rug pulled out from under you? Here are five things to do when faced with a crisis.

Dictionary. com has several definitions for “crisis” but we are looking at this one in particular: a dramatic emotional or circumstantial upheaval in a person’s life. Sounds the same to me as when the rug is pulled out from under you, does it not?

Christian Bloggers Target Audience

My Audience of One and His Friends

Why do I blog? What do I want to accomplish? Who am I writing for? These are questions that every faith-based blogger has asked herself, sometimes daily. I can’t answer these questions for you but I can answer them for myself.

Why do I blog?

It wasn’t my plan. I was comfortable in my little zone studying the Word, learning Scripture, hiding the word in my heart and spending time with God and my husband. I am the Women’s Ministry leader at our church for a second year. This ministry has changed its focus compared with last year and I’m leaning on the Holy Spirit for His direction.

5 Thoughts for Christians to Think About

5 Thoughts for Christians

Have you ever taken a Bible verse out of context and later found out you had misused it? There’s one verse that I have misused regarding “bringing into captivity every thought.”  Now that I am aware of its context, as explained in the study What Does It Mean to Take Thoughts Captive, I have found other verses to guide and correct my thinking.

What do you think believers should think on? What Scripture verse comes to your mind first?

Many will follow the destructive ways of false teachers

Many Will Follow …

And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. 2 Peter 2:2 KJV

And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed. 2 Peter 2:2 NKJV

This Scripture verse from 2 Peter is speaking of believers following the destructive ways of the false teachers. What hurts are the words “and many will follow”.

How my heart breaks when I read of sweet sisters chasing after false teachers!

What an opening statement but it is so true! Social media posts reveal so many believers sharing posts from false teachers or posts about reading their next book or doing their next Bible study. My heart cries. Continue reading “Many Will Follow …”

James 1:2 A Testimony of Faith on Joy in Adversity

Living Out James 1:2

The Apostle James begins his book with this verse:

My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations. James 1:2 (KJV)

What a way to open a letter to the twelve tribes that were scattered abroad! But he knew of the adversity they were facing and so he encouraged them to let adversity grow their faith strong.

This is pertinent for us today as well. Various trials can be used to prove what you’re made of. Your faith is proven through patience and patience will lead to endurance that will stand against external circumstances.

Do You Want an Amazing Prayer Life? Pray Backwards

Do You Want an Amazing Prayer Life?

My bookshelf has some real good books on it concerning prayer. One such book is called “Praying Backwards” by Bryan Chapell.

I had thought my prayer life was acceptable because I prayed in the name of Jesus, but as I read this book, the excitement grew within me as I found what I needed to change the way I prayed.

There is one way to revolutionize your prayer life from so-so to amazing! We pray according to the Lord’s Prayer in Matthew 6 and Luke 11 where we’ve been taught to pray in the name of Jesus and so we end our prayers thinking that it is the formula to having them answered.

A Book Called “Cindy’s Destiny”

This is such a great book, Cindy’s Destiny, as it is written by my Father in heaven. It began a very long time ago, in fact, before the foundation of the world! Ephesians 1 tells us who we are…blessed with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ. All because He chose us in Christ Jesus from before the foundation of the world. It is written in my book that I should walk holy and blameless before Him. It is also written that I am predestined to be adopted into God’s family through Jesus Christ.
